Rohit Sharma terms Team India defeat against Sri Lanka an eye opener

India batted badly on the pitch, beneficial for fast bowlers in the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka. After the match, Captain Rohit Sharma said that this performance against Sri Lanka is an eye opener.

“Our team’s batting was not good,” Rohit said. If we had 70-80 runs in our account then the situation would have been different. This match is an eye opener for us.  Due to the low scores in this match, the Indian team had to face defeat by seven wickets. Simultaneously, Team India’s dream of reaching number 1 in ICC ODI rankings also got broken. India had to beat Sri Lanka in three one-dayers to reach number 1 position.

The Indian team was stopped to 112 runs in the first match against Sri Lanka, in which the former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored a half century. Rohit said that he is not surprised by the performance of Dhoni. He said, “Dhoni knows very well how to perform in these situations. If someone keeps on batting with them, then there will be a lot of difference. “

He said, ” Losing is not good. Nobody wants to do that. We have to think about the returning in the remaining two games. “

At the same time, Sri Lankan Captain Tishara Pereira said, “We have to give credit to our bowlers.” They bowled in the right place and on the right length. The discipline of the bowlers was the main reason  of our victory. It was impossible to play on this wicket. We did not expect such a wicket. Earlier, we expected 250-260 runs, but during the bowling, we realized that if we stop India from scoring a score of less than 220 then this achievement will be achieved.
