NIA will not appeal in Mecca Masjid case: Know who is Aseemanand

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said that they will not appeal in Mecca Masjid blast case in Hyderabad. Previously, a special court on 16th April rejected Aseemanand’s appeal for being innocent in the case.  According to information received from the sources, the case will not be appealed by the NIA in relation to the acquittal of Aseemanand in this case.

After 11 years, NIA announced that all five accused should be held guilty. The main out of all was Aseemanand. Not only this but Aseemanand’s name is being linked to Ajmer Dargah blast, The Samjhauta Express blast and the blasts of Malegaon, Maharashtra in 2008.


Aseemanand is also known by other names like Jiten Chatterjee, Naba Kumar Sarkar, and Swami Omkarnath. He is a resident of Hooghly district in West Bengal.

He is a member of RSS.

A graduate in physics, he did his post-graduation from the University of Burdwan, at which time his association with the RSS got stronger.

He visited Gujarat for his purification processes in the year 1995.

In 2011, he confessed to the magistrate that he and other fundamentalists were behind the explosions on Ajmer Dargah, Hyderabad Mecca Masjid, and many other places. However, he went back to Kabul after this.

Aseemanand lived in Burdwan, West Bengal with his guru till 1988.
