“An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed by a guest at a wedding in Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh,” police said.
Lal Umed Singh, Superintendent of Police, told PTI by phone “Uttam Sahu, the 25-year-old accused, has been arrested”.
On Wednesday, This incident happened night in the district, about 120km from state capital Raipur.
Singh said. “Sahu lured the girl away from the village and then raped and killed her by smashing her head with a stone, The victim was related to the bridegroom, After committing the crime, Sahu, a resident of nearby Rehauta village, returned and joined the wedding,”
When the girl did not return home, a search was launched for her and it came to light that she was last seen with Sahu,
On Thursday, “The body was found near a canal after which police questioned Sahu, who admitted to the crime, he has been arrested on charges of murder and rape” Singh said.
On late Thursday night, in an unconnected incident, a nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district.
The victim had come to attend a wedding in Etah, where she was lured by the accused man, who took her to a secluded area, raped and killed her.
The body was found near the area in a semi-naked condition, At around 3 am.
The police said “we have arrested a person named Pintu after the victim’s family filed an FIR. The accused was a cook at the wedding. Further investigation is underway.”
This comes amid an outrage over Kathua and Unnao rape cases that have taken the country by a storm.
