Unnao (Uttar Pradesh) which recently became famous because of the rape of a minor which was done by its MLA, Kuldeep Sengar and then got arrested for the crime is again in the headlines because of another similar act.
A 9-year old minor in Unnao who was with her mother to accompany her towards the river to drench water got disappeared for a while and after lots of searching her body was found in the bushes, covered with blood. She was raped by a 25-year old man on 25th May. She was immediately assisted towards the hospital.
Police said they have captured the accused and that he is under investigative procedures.
According to surveys, assault cases against minors have increased to certain folds for which President Ram Nath Kovind, on April 22, promulgated the Criminal Law (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018, for an effective initiative against the commission of rape.
The ordinance seeks the death penalty for the rapists of girls below 12 years of age and strict punishment for perpetrators of rape particularly of girls below 16 years, thereby strengthening the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
