Karti chidambaram son of ex finance minister under custody for money laundering.

Ex-finance minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram was under arrest in Chennai this morning in a corruption case, sources informed. He is blamed for receiving Cuts to clear foreign investment worth around Rs. 300 crores in television company INX Media, using the influencing his father’s authority

Initially, Karti Chidambaram was accused in this case to have received 10 lakh rupees, but sources in the CBI told now there is evidence that he received more than that. A new case will be registered against him on basis of fresh information.

A senior CBI officer said, “We have strong evidence to confirm his role in a cheating case.” However, the official denied divulging more information about the case.

Karti’s CA S Bhaskararaman was recently arrested from a five-star hotel in Delhi on February 16.

The Congress commented on this saying the arrest was Modi government’s “vendetta and vindictive politics” to target its opponents. and a “classic diversionary tactic of the government to hide their own corrupt governance model that is being exposed on a daily basis– be it Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi, Dwarka Das Seth Jewelers.”

The Chidambaram’s have refused all the allegations, calling it the result of political vendetta. Last week, P Chidambaram pleaded to the Supreme Court, saying he was the “real target” of the BJP Central government and his fundamental rights were being dishonoured.

Last year in May, A case was filed against Karti Chidambaram by the Enforcement Directorate. Also, the CBI filed a case Separately against him.

The CBI said Karti Chidambaram also received money from INX media to scuttle a tax probe. The business was owned at that time by Peter and Indrani Mukerjea, who are currently in prison on the allegation of murdering Ms Mukerjea’s daughter Sheena Bora.

The two agencies performed a series of raids on the Chidambaram’s properties. Karti Chidambaram was questioned more than a few times.

A lookout notice, To alert airports to stop a passenger from travelling abroad, was issued against him as the agencies suspected that he would try to close the foreign accounts where he might have kept the money from his kickbacks.

Last year In November, the Supreme Court permitted Karti Chidambaram to go to England regarding his daughter’s admission in the Cambridge University.
