CHENNAI: The AIADMK camp led by Edappadi K Palaniswami is planning to start its own party mouthpiece Nam Amma and a television channel most likely to be named as Amma TV shortly. Party sources said all machinery on the founding of Nam Amma is over and the daily newspaper would be launched to provide broad exposure regarding the welfare schemes to propagate the party’s ideas and publicise the achievements of the government as well as to counter political opponents.
The shift for an in-house TV channel and newspaper gained momentum in the rouse of the Palaniswami government garnering negative promotion in Namadhu MGR and Jaya TV. “Palaniswami has made a team led by trusted ministers S P Velumani and P Thangamani to work out the ‘media’ tactic. Moreover, 10 names have been discussed but nothing has been finalized however known the developments in current days,” said a senior minister, looking for anonymity. The group is very keen to have MGR and Amma in the name of the entities to carry forward the inheritance of the former chief ministers and to beat a harmony among the cadre. a discussion is on for applying for new licenses.
